I look forward to seeing you Thursday-Friday 9-10 October here at The Rockefeller University for our meeting on The Next 1000 Years.
Some reminders:
The website for the conference is:

Here you will find the Agenda
https://phe.rockefeller.edu/next1000/PDF_FILES/Next1000Yearsagenda4.pdf
Note that registration is at 8:30 and the discussions begin at 9:00.
The list of participants is at
https://phe.rockefeller.edu/next1000/participants.html
A few of my Rockefeller University colleagues will also join parts of the meeting.
You will see the agenda is one that allows for presentation and discussion in depth. We take up 6 subjects each day. The arc begins with biology (engineering of life, rejecting natural selection, and issues of extinction and speciation), then turns to social aspects (gender, time use, standard of living), continues through energy and information systems, then addresses spatial organization of activity and law, and concludes with empires and a synthesis.
We have posted two papers as background reading. One is
Notes on the Limits to Knowledge Explored with Darwinian Logic https://phe.rockefeller.edu/next1000/PDF_FILES/MarchettiLimits.pdf Cesare Marchetti
The second is my own

We had hoped to share with you the manuscript for our book, The World's Progress, but I regret it is not yet in shape. I think you will find the above two essays good appetizers.
If any of you have items you would like posted to the site in advance of the meeting, please send along and we will post.
For those available Wednesday evening 8 October, we will meet at 7pm in the Lobby of the Bentley Hotel at 500 E. 62 (York Avenue) and walk over to the restaurant Il Vagabondo (351 E 62 between 1st and 2nd Avenues) for a casual dinner. PLEASE LET DORIS MANVILLE phe@rockefeller.edu KNOW IF YOU EXPECT TO JOIN THE WEDNESDAY DINNER GROUP.
Thursday evening we will have a Dim Sum feast at Henry's Evergreen 1288 1st Avenue between 68th and 69th. Guests are welcome both Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Travel vouchers will be available at the meeting.
The website includes a local map, campus, information about travel times to and from local airports, and so forth.

The meeting will be in the ground floor conference room, Room 110B, of "The Nurses Residence" building. Our offices are on the 4th floor of this same building, so those of you needing Internet or phone access or whatever will have easy access simply by ascending 3 flights. The phone contact during the meeting is 212-327-7917 and fax is 212-327-7519.
The meeting will end punctually at 4:00 pm on Thursday afternoon, and we will have cars available to take people to LaGuardia and Kennedy airports or other destinations.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
I am very grateful to everyone for attending and especially the speakers. Not everyone will venture 1000 Years but I know everyone will venture further and more freely than is the custom. The group of people is extraordinary.
Yours truly, Jesse
