| (Return to Comment Selection) My comments are brief. The Science Advisor's Office has indeed been upgraded, but in the area of National Security, to the best of my understanding, has no significant role. I have other concerns about the quality of science and technology in various parts of the national security apparatus in Washington but I prefer to present them verbally when we meet. A new problem for science and technology is the tremendous impedance introduced into the Visa granting process that is disrupting and/or delaying students from abroad, and in some cases, visitors from abroad attending scientific conferences. In the long run, unless that is improved, it certainly will prove to be quite harmful. (Return to Top) Posted 10.04.02 |
